Meet Miguel Coyula, Group for the Comprehensive Development of Havana City to discuss education demographics.

Afternoon
Examination of educational facilities in Old Havana.

Evening
Meet local Cubans to discuss local governance and education.

SUNDAY 16 MAY

Morning

Visit elementary school in Central Havana and talk with teachers and students, followed by a review of community redevelopment programs in Central Havana and Jaimanita.

Afternoon
Study museum exhibits museology methods and practices.

Evening
Explore teaching methodologies for dance and music.

MONDAY 17 MAY

Morning
Meeting with Cuban educators to discuss pedagogy.

Afternoon
Visit an elementary level school in Havana, meet with teachers and students.

Evening
Examine methods and practices of theatre and drama.

TUESDAY 18 MAY

Morning
Meet with educators whose work is focused on literacy.

Afternoon
Visit the community of Pogolotti to review African-Cuban history and culture as relates to curriculum.

WEDNESDAY 19 MAY

Morning
Meet women’s advocates to discuss gender issues in curriculum.

Afternoon
Visit Latin American School of Medicine to discuss health curriculum.

Evening
Confer with North American colleagues to review research findings to date and research objectives for duration of stay.

THURSDAY 20 MAY

Morning

Visit a rural elementary school and a day care center for kids one to four years old in the agricultural region of Las Terrazas to examine preschool programs and ecological and environmental issues.

FRIDAY 21 MAY

All Day
Follow-up meetings and interviews with Cubans to complete research objectives.

SATURDAY 22 MAY

All Day
Follow-up meetings and interviews with Cubans to complete research objectives.

SUNDAY 23 MAY

Air travel departure day.
